World’s Children’s Festival

World’s Children’s Festival (WCF), June 30 - July 2, features kids from nearly 50 countries and 20 US states celebrating “Creativity, Diversity, and Unity.” Children and youth from the DC area are encouraged to join in the fun and learning, to see the work of other children, view performances by musicians and dancers, and actively engage in a range of artistic and creative endeavors.

Washington Improv Theater’s free Improv For All! workshops are high-fun, low-stress classes designed to show you the basics of how improvisers create spontaneous, off-the-cuff theater. The enthusiastic and friendly instructors work to make sure everyone is able to participate in a playful and trusting atmosphere. Best suited for those ages 15 and up, the session is an amazing way to help people connect with each other and reignite their sense of play.

ARRL Field Day is a picnic, practice for emergencies, an informal contest and, most of all, FUN! It is a time where many aspects of Amateur Radio come together to highlight our many roles. While some will treat it as a contest, other groups use the opportunity to practice their emergency response capabilities. It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Amateur Radio to the organizations that Amateur Radio might serve in an emergency, as well as the general public.

8th Annual Hoop'n 4 HIV: Intent to Prevent Basketball Tournament

Every year in commemoration on National HIV Testing Day, REALTalkDC hosts the annual Hoop'n 4 HIV: Intent to Prevent Basketball tournament encouraging healthy social engagement, HIV testing/treatment, drugs and alcohol prevention, and a bit of friendly competition. Free HIV/STI testing will be offered at the event. Any young person ages 14-24 year-old who gets tested for HIV/STI will receive a Chipotle Gift Card.

Tudor Place has enchanted young children for almost two centuries. Experience it yourself on family-friendly Tuesday mornings, joining others to read, sing, and play in the picturesque gardens. Each week introduces a new theme, from “adventurous animals” to “growing gardens” and more. Children enjoy interactive read-alouds, songs, and themed movements related to the week’s topic, sharing a shady green and tranquil setting with the grown-ups who care for them. For ages 2-4; parents/caregivers remain with children.
