BACKGROUND:
The Sustainable DC Budget Challenge is a grant competition that will help test the feasibility of innovative sustainability efforts and develop small-scale pilot projects coordinated by District government agencies. The grants – totaling $4.5 million in the Fiscal Year 2013 budget – are part of the Mayor’s Sustainable DC initiative to make the District the greenest, healthiest, most livable city in the country. Twelve projects were selected, with eight District government agencies taking the lead on the efforts.
